As a beloved centenarian, Edith Renfrow Smith has also received a number of well wishes for her birthdays. Beginning in 2020, Grinnellians from the town and campus have organized Birthday Card Showers for the elder.

In 2021, Mrs. Renfrow Smith received additional noteworthy celebrations. These included a two-day story in the Chicago Sun Times, a video from her church choir, and a tweet from Herbie Hancock ('60)!
